Now that I belong to Christ, I need to...
FYI: This is a 10-point checklist to help you in your new walk with the Lord Jesus. It would be helpful to have your pastor, Christian mentor or mature Christian friend or family member help you check off these steps as you grow in Christ. Will you contact us to let us know how you're doing? You may share prayer concerns with us as well.
1. Publicly profess my decision.
Matthew 10:32 "Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven."
Share your story. Start telling anyone who will listen to you what God has just done in your life!
2. Find a New Testament church that preaches and teaches the Bible.
Hebrews 10:25 "Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching."
Pray and ask the Holy Spirit to lead me to where He wants me to be. Then join and become active.
3. Be baptized.
Acts 8:36 "And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized?"
Baptism is the first act of Christian obedience.
4. Get a Bible and begin reading it daily.
Psalms 1:2 "But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night."
5. Start talking to God every day - pray.
Philippians 4:6 "Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God."
Pray ANYTIME, ANYWHERE, for ANY SITUATION, CONCERN, or REASON. Find a special place and time for prayer and Bible reading, preferably in the morning.
6. Join a Sunday School or Bible study group.
II Timothy 2:15 "Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth."
7. Pray for new Christian friends to help me in my new walk.
Psalm 1:1 "Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful."
8. Ask God to help me start growing as a Christian where He has placed me to serve.
II Peter 3:18 "But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen."
9. Pray for people I know who need to be saved.
I Timothy 2:3-4 "For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth."
10. Start tithing my income to my church.
Malachi 3:10 "Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it."
